Architect Association Calls For Discussion

The Ontario Association of Architects believes cities across Canada can thrive if buildings are put together better.

President John Stephenson hopes to see a national conversation about why architecture is important.

“In an ideal world we would like to see governments at all levels pick this up and create policies that then drive their own behaviour, inform their own actions when they pick up new buildings.”

The president tells us when buildings are well put together and cities are organized better, people will feel better and function better on a daily basis.

Stephenson points out such a discussion can lead to solving poorly designed cities across the country.

He is pleased mayors in Quebec have come together, agreeing a policy is needed for higher design standards.
