All I Can Say

One of the biggest songs of 1992 was Blind Melon’s ‘No Rain’, how many of you dressed as the ‘Bee Girl’ for Halloween that year? That song, coupled with singer Shannon Hoon being featured on Guns N’ Roses’ song ‘Don’t Cry’ the year before, the band became absolutely huge for a time. Sadly, Hoon died of a drug overdose in 1995 at the age of 28. I know a LOT of people close to my age that were (and still are) big fans of Blind Melon, and Hoon, all of who were devestated by his death. A few years ago, likely 4-5 at this point, a really good friend of mine told me that he funded a crowd sourced documentary on the life of Shannon Hoon. In fact, the documentary would be using footage that Hoon himself had shot! It sounded like an incredible idea but I didn’t hear much about it after that. Today I found out that the documentary has been completed and will be released TOMORROW! It’s called ‘All I Can Say’ and features, as mentioned, footage that Shannon Hoon himself shot between 1990-1995, right up until the day he died.

I watched the trailer and I’m not afraid to say I cried through most of it. This is going to be one heck of a good, sad, powerful watch.

You can find All I Can Say to stream, starting tomorrow, here. The trailer for the documentary, you can find below.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
