Air Canada To Lay Off Over 5,000 Workers: Reports

The COVID-19 crisis is being blamed for the lay off of over 5,000 Air Canada employees.

Major news outlets are quoting sources which include the airline’s vice president of in-flight services along with an official of the Air Canada component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

The reports say the layoffs will take effect by April and will affect close to 3,600 crew members and over 1,500 flight attendants with Air Canada Rouge.

The layoffs follow the airlines decision to suspend international flights by the end of the month.
