Additional suspect charged in major cyber crime investigation

Thunder Bay’s police have made another arrest linked to a major cyber crime investigation into the non-consensual sharing of intimate content.

In early February police announced that an extensive cyber crime investigation has led to 12 people being arrested on a total of 172 charges.

The investigation began in 2023 after police received reports that multiple women in Thunder Bay had been having their personal images shared through online chat platforms.

The ongoing investigation has identified an additional suspect.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday in Midland with the assistance of the provincial police.

As a result, a 31-year-old has been charged with the distribution of intimate images without consent.

The accused has appeared in Thunder Bay court via video.

City police did not provide information on whether or not the accused is being held in custody.
