Acadia Broadcasting recognized for 36 Hours of Cheer

Two organizations and citizens in Thunder Bay were recognized by the city on Monday night for their outstanding contributions.

Our team at Acadia Broadcasting was awarded the Community Champion Award for our 36 Hours of Cheer fundraiser.

Over the past five years, the annual radiothon has raised more than $1.5 million to support families in need during the holiday season.

“The unwavering commitment and countless volunteer hours have made a lasting impact in our community and the Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund,” said the city.

“Members of Acadia Broadcasting go above and beyond each year broadcasting for 36 straight hours, rallying support, inspiring generosity, and spreading kindness, all the while creating fun and engaging radio that does good for the community.

“Their actions embody the true spirit of giving and making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

In addition to Acadia Broadcasting’s honour, the city also awarded athlete Noah Filice with the Sport Achievement Award.

He was the first member of Team Canada’s Cross-Country Ski Team to compete in the Special Olympics World Games.
