Thunder Bay police employee earns Police Association of Ontario award

A civilian employee of the Thunder Bay Police Service will be coming home from Windsor with an award earned for “going above and beyond” in her community.

Olivia Gater was granted the On-Duty Difference Maker award, given to a civilian police employee who goes above and beyond, at the Police Association of Ontario’s 94th Annual Meeting and Convention in Windsor.

In a release put out by the association, Gater is credited as “a vital bridge between policing and social care, helping vulnerable individuals access the support they need.”

The association says Gater has aided in the development of the ReconnectU and InReach initiatives, which help connect individuals in crisis with supports.

The full list of winners can be viewed online.
