WHITE, Darlene Dorothy (nee Blandford)

March 25, 1958 – May 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Darlene White, after a short but difficult health crisis faced with remarkable courage.

Born in Swan River and raised in Minitonas, Manitoba, and the East End of Thunder Bay, she retired from the City of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged after 30 years of deeply caring for local seniors and coworkers.

Darlene spent her life proving that true wealth is found in the simple things. Darlene was a natural caregiver, a straight shooter, and a “hugger” whose kitchen table was a sanctuary of comfort, black coffee, and loving wisdom for everyone she connected with.

Country music was the soundtrack of her life. True to her favourite Dolly Parton song, her life was a “Coat of Many Colours”—woven with threads of kindness, hard work, and deep devotion.

Darlene and her husband Bill shared a beautiful romance spanning nearly 50 years; they could often be found two-stepping in the kitchen with her loyal dog, Samantha, resting nearby, or fulfilling their dream of converting a lakeside shack into their beloved summer camp castle alongside the friends they considered family, otherwise she could be found shopping with her sister Kathy.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Bill White; and loving family, Cody White, Rob (Tracy) White, Lindsay (Brad) White, and Cassidy White. Courtney also brings much joy to Dar’s family home.

Darlene was the daughter of the late Henry and Irene Blandford. She is survived by her three sisters and their families: Kathryn Alice Crease (husband Sal Mamolotti), along with her sons Michael James Gerry (Jenn) and Danny Henry Gerry (Alison); Cher Diane Blandford, along with her daughter Shauna Marie (Mickey) Parkin (and their son Sinclair Smith) and her son Nathan Giba; and Karren Lainn (Jerry) Livingston, along with their children Aaron, Crystal, and Levi, and their grandchildren Alanah, Carter, Kam, and Scarlett.

Darlene also leaves behind her family on the White side, the sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren of William “Bill” and Norma White, as well as all their family by marriage. Many were Darlene’s closest friends.

Cherished chosen family are Lorrie and Wayne Jr. Potter (remembering their late parents, her beloved best friends Sharon “Partner” and Wayne Sr. Potter), and Tim and Kim Binmore and their family, as well as many lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
