Gas prices spiking in northwestern Ontario

The price of a litre of gas in many communities in the region took a big jump on Thursday afternoon.

In Kenora the price went from around $1.68 to $1.99.

It is a similar price in Dryden. Some outlets in Thunder Bay are not expected to increase the price until tomorrow but according to gaswizard.com the new rate will be around $1.88.

The price jump comes just days after the federal excise tax on gas of 10 cents a litre was suspended until September.

In Toronto, the price of gas is expected to jump about 10 cents to $1.86.9 while in Winnipeg you will be paying around $1.88 per litre.
