It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Muir on April 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted husband of nearly 75 years, George.
Ruth was a truly kind and gentle soul whose smile could light up a room. She was the heart and pillar of her family, bringing everyone together with her warmth, strength, and unwavering love. She had a peculiar way of making each person feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her presence was a steady source of comfort to all who knew her.
Born in 1934 and raised in Conmee, Ruth later made her home in Thunder Bay. She built a career in retail jewellery sales where her eye for beauty and her genuine connection with people made her a natural. Later, she joined George at Action Realty as a realtor.
Ruth found immense joy in life’s simple moments and pleasures. She cherished her time at camp, collected figurines, loved animals, particularly birds, and a had deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
Ruth’s happy place was the annual winter escapes to Barbados. She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Ruth loved her family. She nurtured strong bonds and created a legacy of love that will continue through generations. Her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Ruth is survived by her husband, George; her daughter, Kim (John Lambert); grandson, Shane (Natalie), great-grandsons, Emmitt, and Kyan; her granddaughter, Shannon; her daughter-in-law, Thuy Le Muir; and her chosen family member, Lynda Chicorli.
She was predeceased in death by her sons, Lorne and Wayne, her granddaughter Jennifer, and her brother Melvin Hogan.
A heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at TBRHSC, all the doctors, PSWs and paramedics who provided such incredible care. To the staff at the Walford for their compassion and support.
