David Norman Kijanen

t is with unimaginable sadness and deep love that the family of David Norman Kijanen, affectionately known as “Davey” or “Dave”, announce his sudden passing on April 4, 2026, at the age of 56.

David was born on March 1st, 1970, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness and presence touched the lives of many.

Dave will be remembered for his generosity, kind heart, and his passion for life and adventure. He was a friend to all, with a warm and social spirit that made everyone feel welcome. He had a special way of making people feel seen, heard, and truly loved no matter who they were.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Kaitlyn, the light of his world; his mother Leena, who provided unconditional love; his siblings, Carmen, Heli, Leena, Ian and Hollis; his nieces, Shantay, Faith and Grace; Sharon (Kaitlyn’s mother); his brother-in-law Gerry; and extended family and friends.

David was predeceased by his father Unto.

We take comfort in knowing that David has entered the gates of Heaven, where he now rests in God’s eternal peace. Our hearts find peace in the promise that we will one day be reunited with Dave in eternal life.

Memorial donations to St. Josephs Care Group would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.sargentandson.com.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
