1929 – 2026

Doreen was born in Dryden, Ontario to Clara and Wendell Holmes. In 1948 she married Michael Gratz and together they built their home in Slate River on Highway 61. There they lived for over 50 years raising their family. Doreen was a graduate of Fort William Vocational school with a diploma in home economics. Her chosen career was to be a stay at home mom and her life was devoted to her 5 children and her husband. She was a 4-H leader and a brownie leader for several years. Her hobbies included spinning, sewing, knitting and water colour painting. Doreen is survived by her children Connie (Andy) Lamothe, their children Andrea & Michael (Jennifer), Carol (Brian) Randle, their children Carrie (Birk) & Kristie, Judy (Doug) Reist, their children Stephen (Jade), & Eric (Emily), John (Bonnie) their children Michael, Sydney, Kyle (Ellie), Lyle (Lyn) & their children Jesse (Jasmine), George (Chelsea), Tyler (Jesse). Great grandchildren Jaccob, Nicholas, Claire, Oliver, Lyla, Finley, Livia, JoviAnne, Bowen, & Stevie Joy. She was predeceased by parents Wendell and Clara Holmes, husband Michael Gratz, partner, Stefan Dudzinski, siblings Wendell, Herbert, Elsie, Vera, & Hazel & great granddaughter Myah. Cremation has taken place and a family celebration of a life well lived will take place at a later date.
