Paul the Pile: Thunder Bay’s Most Stubborn Celebrity Has A Song Now (Listen Here)

“Paul the Pile” is the snow pile in the Country 105 parking lot
that doesn’t seem to want to go away

You know it’s spring in Thunder Bay when the calendar says March, the forecast says snow, and the giant grey mountain in every parking lot says, “Not today, sunshine.”

Ladies and gentlemen… Meet Paul the Pile – Thunder Bay’s unofficial mascot of seasonal disappointment.

Paul has been here for months. He has survived plows, salt, freezing rain, thaw‑freeze‑thaw‑freeze cycles, and at least three people who tried to climb him after a night at the bar. And now, with the first day of spring coming up on Friday, Paul is still standing strong. Stronger than most of us, honestly.

Last night? More snow. Today? More snow. Paul? Bigger. Happier. Thriving. Living his best frosty life.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are out here trying to manifest tulips and sunshine while scraping ice off the car like it’s mid‑January. Again.

And because Thunder Bay deserves a soundtrack for this emotional rollercoaster, I did what any reasonable radio host would do:

Here is a song by me...well the lyrics anyway…the tune is AI.

A heartfelt musical tribute to Paul the Pile – the snowbank that refuses to melt, refuses to leave, and refuses to acknowledge the existence of spring.

It played on Country 105 this morning, because honestly, Paul has earned his airtime. He’s been more consistent than the weather, more reliable than the forecast, and more present than the sun.

So here’s to you, Paul. May you melt someday… but not today. Or tomorrow. Or probably this month.

  • Hi (Cześć/Pryvit) I'm Dee, your morning voice on Country 105! Born of Polish and Ukrainian roots, I’ve inherited the sacred talent of feeding people until they burst. When I'm not cooking up a storm, I’m scouring Canada for unique treasures and foraging for mushrooms like it’s a national sport. Come for the country tunes, stay for the stories & snacks!
