It is with profound sadness that the Biscocho Family share the news of Prisco Daño Biscocho’s passing at the age of 88 on February 25th, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren by his side.
Born in Laurel Batangas, Philippines Prisco was the youngest of four children to mother Aurea Daño Biscocho and father Francisco Biscocho on September 22nd, 1937. He was raised by his father and siblings as his mother passed 7 days after his birth. He is predeceased by his parents and his siblings Severino Biscocho, Maria Biscocho Genil, and Juliana Biscocho Magsumbol.
“Tatay” Prisco, as everyone called him, was the anchor of the family. He always checked in on everyone with video calls regardless of where they lived in the world. He lived his life always leading with kindness, generosity and the warmest smile that would feel like the biggest hug. Many who had experienced his loving nature can attest how blessed you were to know him and be loved by him. He shared a beautiful marriage filled with love, dedication, and laughter with his wife of 68 years Elegaria – a love that one would be fortunate to experience in any lifetime. You would never find one without the other, they were snowbirds and often travelled to the Philippines to spend time with their sons and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tatay Prisco loved to garden and worked hard on his farm land in the Philippines. In Thunder Bay, he enjoyed visiting any ships that docked here as it reminded him of his work as a sailor for 15 years prior to moving to Canada. He maintained his health by enjoying long walks around the neighbourhood. Or the mall where you would often find him also relishing a cup of coffee with his comrades. He was an active member of the Filipino community enjoying picnics and celebrating Filipino Independence Day. He loved animals, particularly all of his family’s dogs (Gracie, Winston and Maxy) all of whom will miss him and the extra treats he would give. Tatay Prisco worked as a paper delivery man, then at Swiss Chalet where he retired in 2007.
He moved to Canada with his wife and youngest son Gilberto in 1994 to help care for his grandchildren Genevieve, Genelyn and Jan who were blessed to be raised by him. Tatay Prisco was always proud and present through all of his children and grandchildren’s milestones. But what his family will miss the most are the little meaningful moments.
Much thanks to the Renal Department at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for their care, Ontario Health Care and VON nurses/PSWs who provided compassionate home care, Lift Services, Dr. Jeremy Mozzon and his health care team at Fort William Clinic for their care over the years.
Tatay Prisco is survived by his wife Elegaria De Sagun Biscocho; his children Veronica (Guillardo), Leopoldo (Edna), Nickanor (Sonia), Teresita, Gilberto (Bernadette); grandchildren Genevieve (Raph), Genelyn (Mike), Kim, April, Michelle (Marvin), Joel (Leizl), Jay (Mhay), Jouie (Abey), Dexter, Joshua (Rose-Ann), Jan (Anne); great grandchildren Regine, Rihanna, Roghelio
(nicknamed Roger after his favourite singer Kenny Rogers), Leiane (Rayven), Haili, Sabrina, Laiza, Yana, Zia, Dahlia, and great great-granddaughter Aila.
Special thanks for the support of the friends who became family throughout Tatay Prisco’s life and during this difficult time. Your love, prayers and compassion help to keep us going.
Tatay Prisco will be forever missed and
dearly loved for the rest of our lives.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at Corpus Christi Church beginning at 10:30am.
