Anna Maria Marchesin

In loving memory of Anna Maria Marchesin (nee Rosin) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, our dear mother and nonna was called home on Sunday, February 15, 2026, to rest at the age of 86 years.

Anna was born in Bannia, Pordenone, Italy on March 26, 1939, and immigrated to Canada as a teenager with her family. She later met and married Avio. Together they built a life and had four children to whom she was devoted. She loved her family and often prayed for all of us, as well as for others. Her grandchildren brought a new joy, and she especially cherished the early years of wonder. Her faith was an important part of her life.

Anna enjoyed being with family and friends, gardening, cooking, attending mass and being outdoors. She was honest, faithful, loving and greeted people with a warm smile and an open heart. Anna worked hard and wasted little to nothing. She took satisfaction from tending to her flowers and gardens and enjoyed preserving and cooking the harvest. Her family always came home to a meal made with love. Her flower beds were vibrant and uplifting. The sights, sounds and smells of her own yard were a treasure to her. Her home and her parish were her happy places. She was a long-time member of the CWL and a dedicated member of Holy Family Parish. She was a member of the choir and was happy to volunteer her time.

She is survived by her daughters Lisa (Salvatore) and Rita; grandchildren, Sophia, Paige and Gabriella; siblings, Luciano and Pia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Avio; sons, Roberto and Oscar; parents, Clelia and Romano; and brothers, Tony and Ugo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11a.m. when friends and family will gather for the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church celebrated by Father Doug McClure. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with prayers being offered at 7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Garon and the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospice unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We are truly grateful for the kindness, compassion and effort you extended to her and to us.
