Last March in a small town in Georgia, firefighters rushed into a burning home expecting the worst. What they found stopped them in their tracks. In one of the rooms, a mother dog had wrapped herself around her newborn puppies, protecting them from the flames. She didn’t survive… but because of her, every one of those tiny pups did.
Fire crews carried the litter out through a window, handing them off one by one. The puppies were taken in by local rescues, cared for, and eventually adopted into loving homes.
Well—almost all of them.
One little guy named Kreed was still waiting. His first adoption fell through, and that’s when a rescue worker recognized him online… and reached out to Lieutenant John Isaac Holaway, the firefighter who had saved the litter and had already adopted one of the pups, now named Chief Lou.
Holaway agreed to meet Kreed—and when the two brothers saw each other again for the first time since the fire, it was instant joy. Tails wagging, noses bumping… a full on reunion.
Now, Kreed is being fostered by the very firefighter who carried him out of the flames.
