William Rapheal Purdon

William Rapheal Purdon passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 21, 2026. He was predeceased by his mother, Sonia Purdon. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Sherry (late Leonard) and his nephews, Justin and Chad, along with many friends who cared deeply for him.

Born on September 23, 1966, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, William was loved by many throughout his life. From a young age, he was drawn to sports, both as an athlete and fan, and this passion remained a constant source of joy and connection for him.

In his twenties, William worked hard and cherished time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed camping trips, attending the annual pig roast, and gathering with those he loved most. At age 26, he became an uncle, a role he embraced wholeheartedly. William was a dedicated and loving uncle to Justin and Chad, spending countless hours caring for them and helping to raise them in the family home alongside Grandma Puffalt, Leonard, and Sherry. He passed down to his nephews his love of sports, his appreciation for music, and a deep pride in their Jewish culture and heritage.

Throughout his 40s and 50s, William lived a simple and steady life rooted in family and routine. He was an avid hockey fan and an enthusiastic collector of hockey cards, proudly cheering on the Winnipeg Jets and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Supporting and spending time with family remained central to his life.

William was also committed and dedicated to his work. He worked at Real Canadian Superstore for approximately 10 years and at the Landmark Hotel for another 10 years, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and dedication.

William will be remembered as someone who lived with authenticity, respect, accountability, and strong integrity. He had a big, wonderful laugh that will be missed by all who knew him. His presence brought warmth, humour, and steadiness to those around him, and his love for family will remain a lasting legacy.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
