Heaven gained another angel, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Pat (Patsy) Baker, who passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 at the age of 70, surrounded by the love of her family.
Pat was born on September 22, 1955, in Nakina, Ontario, and moved to Thunder Bay at a young age with her mother and brothers. It was there that she built the life, family, and community connections that defined her journey. She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian Peterson and James Thompson; her first love and husband, Chuck Baker; her newborn sister; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Nesbitt; and many sisters- and brothers-in-law.
Pat and Chuck were high school sweethearts who married on April 30, 1977. Together, they shared a beautiful life, raising two loving daughters, Stacey and Tammy. Later in life, Pat was blessed to find love again with her devoted partner, Bruce Nesbitt (Grandpa Bruce), with whom she shared 25 wonderful years filled with companionship and laughter.
Throughout her life, Pat lived with quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and dedication to those she loved. She was deeply committed to her children, grandchildren, family, and her community. Her warm smile and gentle nature made everyone feel welcome; she had a special way of making people feel valued and cared for.
Pat generously gave her time to many local organizations and was a devoted volunteer/employee at the Current River Community Centre for over 30 years, where she spent countless hours. Whether she was organizing events, lending a helping hand, or supporting community programs, Pat’s selflessness left an incredible mark on all who knew her. Her commitment to hard work and volunteerism reflected her belief that kindness and effort could make the world a better place.
Family was everything to Pat. She was endlessly proud of her daughters and absolutely adored her three grandchildren, Carter, Hunter, and Lilliana, who were her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in watching them grow, whether cheering them on at hockey, supporting them in school, or simply witnessing them become the amazing young people they are today. Her love for her family was constant and unconditional, and it will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for everyone who knew her.
Pat is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stacey (Matt) and Tammy (Jake); her second love, Bruce Nesbitt; her brothers, Alex (Cecelia), Fred, Billy, Edwin (Gini), and TJ (Lori); her beloved grandchildren, Carter, Hunter, and Lilliana; and many cherished friends, nieces and nephews.
Pat’s legacy is one of compassion, generosity, strength, and love. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, and laughter that will never be forgotten. Her gentle spirit, tireless work ethic, and heart for others will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As per her wishes, a private celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date at the Current River Community Centre, a place that meant so much to her and where she so freely gave her time and love.
Thank you to the many nurses and doctors for all the compassionate care they gave our mom (Crystal, Hannah, Sophie, Abby, and Dr. Ibrahim). In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to the Current River Community Centre would be greatly appreciated.
Forever in our hearts, Mom/Grandma,
your love will continue to guide us
and your strength and kindness will never fade.
