Claude Louiseize

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Louiseize on the morning of January 29, 2026 at TBRHSC with his loving wife, Dana, by his side. Claude was born in Timmins, Ontario and grew up in Sudbury. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University before moving to Thunder Bay to complete his teaching certification at Lakehead University.

Claude began his career as a French Immersion teacher with the Lakehead Board of Education. For over 25 years, he inspired countless students with his knowledge and linguistic skills. A true highlight of his professional life was the two years he spent teaching in Baden-Baden, Germany—an experience that fueled his love for travel and left him with happy memories he spoke of often. He retired in 2003 at which time he was able to pursue his passion for travel.

Claude was a man who savored the best things in life. Whether he was photographing a landscape, casting a line into a quiet lake, or carving through fresh snow on his skis, he lived life to the fullest. He was equally at home in the kitchen or at a white-linen table, sharing his love for cooking and fine dining with those he loved.

Claude’s memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Dana, who was his partner in all of life’s adventures. He also leaves behind a large and loving circle of nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws who will miss his joie de vivre. He was predeceased by his parents, Lionel and Florina Louiseize; his brothers, Gaëtan and Jean-Pierre; and his sister, Mimi.

We extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the TBRHSC Unit 1A for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held in Claude’s honour at the Westfort Chapel of Everest of Thunder Bay at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. If friends and family so desire, donations in Claude’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Please sign the online condolences at everestofthunderbay.com
