Thunder Bay Police lay 1st Degree Murder charge

Thunder Bay Police have laid a First Degree Murder charge in connection to a death in the city last fall.

Officers were sent to the Red River Road and Clarkson Avenue area on October 11th in response to an assault.

An 85-year-old man was located with serious injuries.

At the time a suspect was charged with attempted murder.

The victim, Hendrick Walinga, has since passed away due to his injuries.

As a result a charge of First Degree Murder was issued today.

The suspect remains in custody pending a future court date.
