Thunder bay police warn of 50/50 lottery scam calls

The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) has received multiple reports of fraudulent phone calls involving the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s December 50/50 lottery.

The December 50/50, which will announce its grand prize winner on January 2, is approaching a $6 million grand prize.

Residents in Thunder Bay are reportedly receiving scam calls which say the recipient has won the 50/50 draw, but must pay a fee in order to receive the winnings.

TBPS cautions that the only purchase required for the 50/50 is the ticket itself, and that no fee is required to access the winnings.
