It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bruno Scocchia announce his passing on December 22, 2025. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.
Bruno was born on June 1, 1945 in Teramo, Italy, to his mother, Piacentina, and father Cherinto. He and his family immigrated to Canada when Bruno was a young child, where he grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Throughout his life, Bruno owned and operated several automotive businesses in both Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, taking pride in his mechanical skills.
Bruno met the love of his life, Katarina, in 2016. Together, they enjoyed travelling, making multiple trips to Greece. They loved spending time with family, and enjoyed nights out for dinner and trips to the casino. With the loving influence of his wife, Bruno went from full Italian, to half Greek. He enjoyed cooking and baking both Italian and Greek cuisine, and proudly used his favourite Greek mug for coffee each morning.
Bruno is survived his wife, Katarina, children Gerry (Terry) and Anna, grandchildren Tia, Gerry, Bruno, Ellie, Ernie, Olivia, and great grandson Leonardo. He is also survived by his two sisters, Lena and Julie, and aunt Ida Scocchia, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bruno’s family would like to thank the staff of 1A TBRHSC for their wonderful support and care.
As per Bruno’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 651 Beverly St. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund through TBRHSF.
