Charges laid during traffic stop in Sioux Lookout

A 41-year-old from Kasabonika Lake First Nation is facing charges after a stop during a Festive RIDE program.

It reportedly happened on Wellington Street in Sioux Lookout at around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

OPP say the driver tried to evade police, and a traffic stop was initiated.

Officers determined the they were driving while impaired by alcohol.

The driver was arrested and taken to the OPP Detachment for further testing.

Their license was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Opp say they were released from custody with a January court date.
