Gone With The Wind….!

This time of year it’s filled with so many holiday movies.  Everything from “Frosty The Snowman” to “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” to “A Christmas Carol” and the list goes on.

But, over the holidays you might even be tempted to watch this classic…that has nothing to do with Christmas.

It was 86 years ago today (December 19th, 1939), the epic historical romance “Gone With The Wind” premiered in theatres.  One of the greatest films of its day. It was set in the American South against the backdrop of the American Civil War.  It featured the famous characters – Scarlett O’Hara (played by Vivian Leigh);  and Rhett Butler (played by Clark Gable).  Did you know that over 1,400 women auditioned for the role for O’Hara?  British actress Leigh eventually won the role, and also won the Oscar for Best Actress.

The film also won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress.  GONE WITH THE WIND consistently rates in the lists of the Top 100 films of all time.  When adjusted for inflation, it remains one of the top grossing films of all time.

So…instead of “Frosty The Snowman”………why not watch GONE WITH THE WIND!
