NAPS makes large drug seizure on Fort Albany

The Nishnawbe Aski Police have seized drugs with a street value of $103,000 on the Fort Albany First Nation.

On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant on a residence and seized several kinds of drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, oxycodone and hydromorphone pills.

Over $25,000 in cash was also seized.

A 46-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from Fort Albany have been arrested.

They appeared in court on Tuesday on five counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

They appeared in court Wednesday and have been remanded back into custody pending future court appearances.
