Rudy Glenn Crane

March 20, 1962 – December 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Rudy Glenn Crane, age 63 years of North Caribou Lake First Nation, peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Rudy was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on March 20, 1962 to Samuel and Madeline (nee Chang) Crane. He was raised in Sioux Lookout and then moved to Thunder Bay for a while. He met Jacqueline Quequish in Sioux Lookout and they later moved to Round Lake. They married on June 11, 1988, building a beautiful life and family together. Rudy drove a taxi for a while and was a Housing Foreman in Round Lake, but his main career was as a Technician for Bell Canada until retirement a few years ago. Rudy loved the outdoors, especially boating and fishing. He was a ‘jack of all trades’ and enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, building and fixing anything. He especially was talented in carpentry and completed many projects. He also was a wonderful cook and loved to BBQ for family and friends. Rudy was the definition of having 9 Lives, and lived life to the fullest. He coached hockey in Round Lake and was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, cheering them on whenever possible. Family brought him the greatest joy and time spent together with his wife, kids, grandchildren and nieces and nephews truly made him the happiest. Rudy’s big sense of humour, kindness and loving nature will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 37 years, Jacqueline; children Cheri (Wayne) Kakekayash and Jonathan (Mayveline) Crane, and special nephews who were like sons, Clayton Beardy and David Winter and a special niece who was like a daughter, Audrey Quequish; grandchildren Renaya, Jayla and Asher and granddogs Carly and Pudgy. He is also survived by his siblings Leonard (Nancy) Crane (ex sister-in-law Lorraine), Susan Crane, Bertha (Tom) O’Connor and Alvin (Kelly) Crane; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Madeline Crane; brother Van Crane (in infancy); father-in-law and mother-in-law Japin and Elizabeth Quequish, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.

A Viewing Service for Rudy will be held in Thunder Bay on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 10:00am until 12:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Pastor Gary Quequish.

Rudy will then be transported home to North Caribou Lake First Nation. The Funeral Service will be held in Weagamow Lake Evangelical Church on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 12:00pm, officiated by Pastor Gary Quequish and Emcee Ivan Wapinesk. Burial will follow in the Weagamow Lake Community Cemetery with the interment service led by Jake Sawanis.
