It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raffaela Longo on December 2, 2025, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, at the age of 89. 

Born on October 31, 1936, in Brognaturo, Italy, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love.

Known for her incredible cooking and deep devotion to her faith, she was the heart of her family as a loving wife, mother, and cherished Nonna to seven grandchildren. Her commitment to family was unwavering, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious meals.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Mario (Donna), Rosemary (Vince), and Sonia (Rob); her younger brother Cosmo (Rosa); and her beloved grandchildren Talia, Siena, Teo, Alyssa, Emily, Lucas, and Matthew along with numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Riccardo, parents Salvatore Valente and Maria Bava, brother Domiano and sister-in-law Teresa Valente, her sister Maria and brother-in-law Angelo Nardi.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, December 5, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Church at 123 Hilldale Road beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.  The visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the Mass.  Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the care team at St. Joseph’s Care Group on 4 North for their care and support during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Dew Drop Inn or the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit (4 North) at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
