Update: 17-year-old killed in overnight collision in Long Lake First Nation

Members of the Greenstone detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a deadly incident that occurred between a transport truck and a pedestrian.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, the Greenstone detachment of OPP responded to a call on Highway 11 in the Long Lake First Nation, between Longlac and Nipigon.

While police investigated, Highway 11 was closed from Longlac to Nipigon until the early hours of the morning.

A 17-year-old individual was taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The OPP is still investigating, but has not yet gathered any evidence to suggest charges should be filed.
