Richard Douglas Nummikoski

April 4, 1963 – November 15, 2025

There are no words to express the heartache with Rick’s untimely and unexpected passing.

Born April 4, 1963 in Port Arthur, ON, to Gladys and Waino Nummikoski. He was the Baby of the Family. His first years were spent in Silver Mountain, enjoying playtime outside with his brother, sister, his cousin Cathy or his imaginary friends, swimming/fishing/camping at Whitefish, Madeline and Icarus, snowmobiling and exploring.

Dad and Mom built a new home in O’Connor and we moved in 1973. Rick made new friendships and enjoyed the many adventures.

He excelled in school in Nolalu (skipping Grade 3), O’Connor, Selkirk Vocational Highschool and Confederation College. Upon graduation from the Computer Control Systems Analyst Program in 1986, he accepted a position with Honeywell Measurex in Sault Ste. Marie. His 37 years with the Company moved him to several Papermill Towns in NW Ontario, latter being Iroquois Falls and Kapuskasing.

In his retirement in May 2023, Rick came home to Kakabeka Falls. He was just getting in to Retirement mode “everyday was Friday!”. Enjoying family, friends, the outdoors.

Camping, fishing with his niece Jodi, buddies Brooks, Mike, Shawn, Mark, Kenny, rides with Gary for wood and watching his great nephews/niece playing hockey. Although he was a quiet guy, he came out with some good ones accompanied with a good giggle/laugh. We will all miss his big heart, strong hugs, birthday/special occasion wishes and daily messages. Never ever missed one!

Predeceased by Mom and Dad, Gladys (1996) and Waino (1999).

Survived by brother Gary (Peggy), sister Patti (Dale), nieces and nephews Terri-Lynn, Jodi, Danielle (Steve), Lee (Kyle), Daryl (Bryanna), Darren (Brianne), great nieces and nephews Jordan, Rylan, Blake, Brock, Brett, Bryce, Callen, Cara and John. Also aunts and numerous cousins.

Reflecting his quiet and private demeanour, Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the spring.

To honour Rick, donations can be made to TBRHSC Cardiac Care.
