(Joseph) Leonard Herron

August 11, 1936 – October 24, 2025

Leonard passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 in his 89th year. He was born and raised in Port Arthur, residing most of his youth in Current River. Involved in the communities of hockey and baseball with brother Louis, they earned many awards and accolades. Len enjoyed western and war movies, animation, and all sports on TV. He was a dedicated fan of hockey, baseball, and golf.

His large extended family were lifelong members of Our Lady of Loretto Church, where Len served for years as an altar boy, while his sister June sang in the choir. Parents Edmund (John) and Lena raised seven children through the decades in a neighbourhood near the edges of Boulevard Lake. Many family picnics, swimming, lawn games, and ice cream cones created happy memories.

In his teen years, he and his friends hung out at Boulevard Lake Pavilion for the dances and adventure of it all. His sister June played guitar in a band where the weekend dances were enjoyed by Len, his brothers, and family at the Forrester Hall on Grenville Avenue.

Len’s work career began as deck hand, sailing on the Great Lake freighters, until he went to work for Clemens Grocery in Fort William. This eventually led to his long career at Safeway stores, where he made many life long friends. Clemens Grocery is where he met the love of his life, Patricia Mosindy. They soon wed, and spent many happy years beautifying their yard, as evident by the abundant flower gardens. Summers spent on road trips in their motor home attending music concerts and visiting friends filled their lives with fun and good times.

He is predeceased by his wife Patricia (2005), parents Edmond and Lena, brothers Edward (Buddy), Clifford, Louis, and Lorne in infancy, and sisters May and June Robitaille. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

Len especially enjoyed his weekly breakfast coffee clutches with his circle of friends, as recent as a few weeks ago. Enjoy an ice cream or a pancake breakfast in honour of Len. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment in the Mosindy family plot in St. Andrew’s Cemetery will be held at a future date.

Leonard’s sense of humour, big smile, gentle ways, and kindness will be missed by many.

REST IN PEACE, DEAR SOUL.
