I’m sure you’ve already had the conversation with either a baseball fan or not. Tonight, the Toronto Blue Jays can advance to the World Series. It would be their first visit since those amazing ‘back to back’ wins in ’92 and ’93.
Tonight, the Jays can advance in Game 7 of the ALCS against the Mariners. It’s been quite the run, and to even have conversations about the Jays in October – is AWESOME. Here’s a few fun facts to share with your friends:
The Jays franchise started in 1977 ( they actually won their debut game in a snowstorm ).
They play their home games at the famous Rogers Centre (formerly The Skydome).
Before taking on the name “The Blue Jays”, they were initially called “The Toronto Baseball Club”.
In 1976, they held a contest to choose a name. They had over 4,000 entries, and eventually decided on The Blue Jays.
The first championship win came in 1992, and then again in 1993.
No doubt, The Jays have had a huge impact on Canadian sports. The only Canadian MLB team. And with the Jays deep run this year, it’s taken their popularity to new heights.
Another fun fact. How much do you think the Blue Jays are worth? According to Forbes Magazine, the teams valuation lists them at #14 on the list, worth $2.1 billion. Worth more than teams like the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals.
Whatever happens TONIGHT……………Canada is so proud of this year’s team. GO JAYS GO!!!!
