Update: Shelter-in-place ends at multiple schools following bear sightings

A couple of schools have lifted shelter-in-place orders following bear sightings.

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board announced on Facebook around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday that Bishop E.Q. Jennings Senior Elementary School and Bishop Gallagher Senior Elementary School are under the safety measures following a bear cub sighting.

St. Francis School was also under a shelter-in-place order after a bear was spotted in the area.

St. Vincent School was placed under a shelter-in-place order on Thursday morning, which has since been lifted.

All of the schools returned to normal operation around 1:00 p.m.
