Lakehead University is celebrating its 60th anniversary this Homecoming Weekend, with a lineup of events beginning on Thursday evening.
Alumni will return to the campus for a weekend featuring social gatherings, academic talks, award ceremonies, and sporting events, though not all will be open to the general public.
Homecoming launches with Back to the Outpost, a pub night at the university’s on-campus pub beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The pub night will feature live music by Viva / Undercover, a local Thunder Bay band made up of Lakehead alumni. Attendees will need to register online with a $5 admission cost.
The weekend brings two matchups on the ice to Fort William Gardens between the Thunderwolves and the Guelph Gryphons, happening Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for both games. These will be the first two games of the season for the Thunderwolves.
Saturday’s public events also include an Athletics Wall of Fame Ceremony for 2025 inductees at The Hangar at 12 p.m. and Homecoming’s annual Women’s Basketball Alumni Game at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse at 2 p.m.
