Officers were sent to the Water Street area around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
A man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries once emergency services got on scene.
There is a visible police presence in the area, and traffic disruptions are a possibility.
The Forensic Identification Unit is involved in the ongoing investigation.
