2025 XCM Canadian Championship set to take place in Thunder Bay

Blacksheep Mountain Bike Club and Thunder Bay are hosting the Cross-Country Marathon (XCM) Canadian Championship.

The event is getting underway on Friday, running through Saturday.

This is the second consecutive year the city and club have hosted the event.

There is also a special event being held this year on Friday Night.

Olympic medalist and Canadian cyclist Curt Harnett will be on hand as a guest speaker.

On Friday, there is also the five-kilometre local challenge race.

Saturday’s race schedule is:

  • 8:30 a.m. – 40km Local Challenge Race
  • 8:45 AM – 20km Local Challenge Race
  • 9:00 AM – 13km Local Challenge Race
  • 12:10 PM – Challenge Race Awards
  • 1:00 PM – 90km Canadian XCM Championship
  • 1:15 PM – 60km Canadian XCM Championship
  • 7:00 PM – Awards Ceremony for the National Championships

During the event, there will also be community rides and youth events.

“Bringing back the Canadian Championships for a second year is an incredible opportunity for Thunder Bay,” said the President of Blacksheep Mountain Bike Club, David Valente.

“Having world-class athletes like Andrew L’Esperance, Sean Fincham, and Haley Smith compete here, and welcoming Olympian Curt Harnett as our guest speaker, makes this a truly special celebration of cycling.”
