Most people in Thunder Bay know the name DUSTIN BARR

Dustin left a legacy behind. In 2013, at the age of 17, Dustin was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He had such a positive attitude and bravery about himself, that made him such a legend. He loved the game of golf. He loved every aspect of the game. AND, he was very good at the game. He even played a memorable round of golf at St. Andrew’s in Scotland with his father and friends. He was preparing for a huge surgery coming up.
Dustin received an exemption to play in the Staal Tournament in 2017. He passed away in 2020 at the young age of 24. Since then, his life and legacy lives on with the RAISING THE BARR Golf Tournament held every August at Whitewater Golf Course. The event is coming up on the 15th (tomorrow). In the past 5 years, this event has raised over $300,000 to assist children and families living through cancer.
If you’re a part of this event, you’re doing a great thing.
Dustin once said, “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid, it means you don’t let fear stop you. Fear has 2 meanings – forget everything and run; or face everything and rise”! AND THAT’S EXACTLY what Dustin Barr did.
