Music news on Tell Me Something Good.

It was this week in 1957, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time in Liverpool where John’s band was playing. Paul, 16 years old at the time, was riding his bike and heard that a band called “The Quarrymen” were playing at a church dance. In Paul’s words, “I was hoping to pick up a girl”. He decided to stop into the dance and check things out. Turns out, a mutual friend was there and introduced John to Paul. Paul just happened to have a guitar strapped to his back, and joined John on stage. Lennon was impressed. A few months later, the 2 met, and formed…THE BEATLES! What’s the saying: “the rest is history”.
The Beatles are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in popular music. They are ‘the best selling music act of all time”, selling over 600 million albums globally. Rolling Stone magazine lists them as the ‘greatest artists in history”.
If it wasn’t for that chance meeting this week in 1957…..where would music be TODAY?
