Severe Thunderstorm Watch This Morning

A storm blowing in from Minnesota is prompting another severe thunderstorm watch from Environment Canada this morning.

Meteorologist Ryan Rozinskis tells us we can expect winds of up to 90 kilometres per hour, and between 20 and 30 milimetres of rain by the time it’s predicted to wrap up late this morning.

He adds they’re keeping an eye out for severe storms to return later in the afternoon and evening, however.

In the meantime Rozinskis says they’ve noticed a high number of lightning strikes, and are warning you to stay indoors and away from windows.

The heavy rain may also cause rivers and bodies of water to be higher than usual, so Rozinskis cautions you to keep clear of their banks to avoid falling in.
