Does your family “meal prep” / “meal plan”?

Today is National Meal Prep Day! It’s becoming more trendy for people to meal prep. Most do it to stay healthy, others because it’s convenient to have your meals ready to go after a busy day.

According to a new study: higher intakes of fruits, vegetables, fiber, etc, as well as lower intakes of fat in young individuals, have been linked to more frequent home food preparation.

Meal prep vs meal planning? My family has been “meal planning” for the past 4 years. We usually plan our menu on Saturday’s….and plan meals for Sunday to Thursday. This makes the grocery shopping list easier. It takes out the guessing game while at the store.

PLUS – do you have what our family calls a “pick night”? This is an empty night on the schedule…where basically “everyone fends for themselves”. Whether it’s left-overs or just something simple prepared on your own.
