Thunder Bay’s city police have laid charges following a year-long investigation into historical child sexual abuse allegations.
Officers began an investigation after receiving reports of allegations in 2024 that date back roughly two decades and involve a child welfare agency worker who was assigned to the victim’s family at the time.
The investigation led to a suspect being arrested last month.
As a result, a 56-year-old has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
They appeared in court on Wednesday.
No information was provided on whether the accused was released from custody or not.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are investigating the possibility that there are more victims who have yet to come forward.
