Thunder Bay man charged with impaired driving & safety offences

A man faces charges after being caught driving a truck in Thunder Bay that was basically MacGyvered together

A traffic officer stopped a vehicle on Balmoral Street on Tuesday that they believed was operated by a suspended driver.

The officer arrested the driver who showed signs of impairment and had a separate outstanding impaired driving charge.

The 41-year-old was charged with impaired driving as well as several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Police say the vehicle had multiple safety deficiencies including that the box of the pickup was secured to the frame with ratchet straps, the driver’s seat was not secured, and the front windshield was significantly damaged.

The accused was taken into custody and appeared in court Wednesday.
