4 times a day, Danny brings you “TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD”. Danny shares ‘good news stories’ / ‘feel good stories’…kind of like your ‘daily dose of optimism’. You can hear it weekdays at 6:35am / 9:10am / 1:10pm / 4:35pm.
Here’s one from TODAY:
Is there someone in your family that collects cards? Sorts cards / fantasy cards / Pokemon cards? How about this: it’s happening in Kawara, Japan.
Kids are exchanging cards of the town’s real-life seniors and middle-aged men. YES. Retired firefighters, electricians, plumbers, volunteers and chefs…etc! The idea came from a local city councilor. Why? She wanted to strengthen the connection between the children and older generations in the community, by putting them on ‘trading cards’.
The response has been huge! Kids are going to local events, volunteering and doing what they can – to actually meet the people on these cards. One of the most popular is a 68 year old retired prison officer….Mr. Fujji. His card is so popular – kids are lining up to get his autograph! WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!
