Folklore Festival’s organizing committee has announced that the 2025 event is cancelled.
The committee says rising costs and safety issues were contributors to the decision.
Increasing ticket prices, or booth rental costs was an option they decided against as the additional costs would be passed onto visitors.
They also looked at ending on Saturday night of the event and eliminating the evening’s feature entertainers but the cost savings would not have been sufficient.
Other concerns included city parking prices, safety issues around Fort William Garden, and lack of financial support from the city according to the committee.
Although this year’s event has been canceled, organizers say they are going to re-evaluate their ability to run the event in 2026.
