Thunder Bay: Work to repair water main underway on Fort William Road

Thunder Bay is currently working to repair a broken water main.

Crews were sent to check on a leak on Sunday and they found significant flooding at the intersection of Fort William Road and First Avenue.

Staff worked overnight to start addressing the situation.

Excavation and repair work is scheduled to begin on Monday.

Residents in the area may experience discoloured water and/or decreased water pressure during the repairs.

If you have discoloured water coming through your tap you should run cold water for 10-15 minutes or until the water runs clear.

If this does not solve the problem you should reach out to city dispatch at 807-625-2195.

Fort William Road has been reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between First Avenue and Water Street.

The city is asking drivers to avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the break is currently unknown.
