Franklin Street fire leaves home with damage

A home on Franklin Street suffered damages in an early morning fire.

Fire rescue was sent to the scene around 6:50 a.m. on Monday.

One of the home’s residents was able to let crews know where the fire was when they arrived.

Firefighters entered the smoke-filled home and put out the fire.

A search of the residence revealed that nobody was inside, and no injuries were reported.

Fire rescue assisted in ventilating the house to get the smoke out.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents to closely monitor candles and to be mindful of their location.

They add that you should always make sure that there is a working smoke alarm on every level of your home.
