City police arrest two people after seizing loaded shotgun, drugs

Two people are facing charges after city police seized suspected drugs and a loaded shotgun during a drug trafficking investigation.

As part of the investigation officers searched a home and a vehicle in the community.

A male suspect was located on Shuniah Street on Thursday.

Officers searched their vehicle and seized suspected fentanyl, more than $3,300 cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Officers then searched a home on Sequoia Drive and located a loaded shotgun with its serial number removed along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.

During the second search, a female suspect was arrested.

As a result, a 27-year old male has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm

A 27-year-old female has been charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm

Both of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
