Man facing several charges following 2 incidents at local businesses

A man is facing multiple charges after two incidents at local businesses.

Officers were sent to Arthur Street West around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a break-in.

Upon arrival they found a business window had been smashed by a suspect looking to enter the building.

Officers also found evidence that a neighbouring business was damaged as well.

A suspect was located nearby and arrested after a brief chase.

They initially gave police a fake name before their real identity was found.

As a result, a 26-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence (two counts)
    • Mischief over $5,000
    • Mischief under $5,000
    • Obstruct peace officer
    • Theft under $5,000
    • False alarm of fire

The accused has been released from custody with a future court date.
