It was a brief court appearance for the lawyer of a former Thunder Bay chief of police.
Sylvie Hauth is facing charges stemming from a widespread investigation into claims of misconduct within the police force.
Monday’s court appearance was to schedule a trial date according to the court docket, but that ultimately did not happen.
The crown and Hauth’s legal team are set to meet again at the end of January before the case returns to court on February 3 for the next steps in the matter.
Hauth was charged with obstructing a public or peace officer, breach of trust by a public officer, and two counts of obstruction of justice in April 2024.
She first joined the Thunder Bay Police Service in 1993, eventually being promoted to deputy chief and acting police chief, before taking on the full role in 2018, before retiring on January 27, 2023.
At the time of her retirement, Hauth was served with a Notice of Hearing on three counts of alleged misconduct under the Police Services Act.
