Calendar Parking and Winter Priority Route set to return

Thunder Bay is activating Winter Priority Route and Calendar Parking Restrictions.

They are going into effect on Monday at 9:00 a.m.

The city implements the restrictions during the winter once there has been a significant snowfall so snowplows can clear local streets more effectively.

Calendar parking ensures that when the plow arrives, at least one side of the street is clear of parked cars so snow plows can clear one side of the road per day.

Calendar parking restrictions are in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

Meanwhile, priority route restrictions prohibit vehicles from parking on either side of the road from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. every night so plows can access the road.

The parking restrictions will remain in place until the spring.

The city asks that drivers stay at least 20 metres away from snowplows to give them room to manoeuvre.
