Two new temporary exhibits at the Thunder Bay museum will show off the region’s modern and ancient history.
One exhibit will have some nearly 10,000-year-old objects showcasing archaeology from Northwestern Ontario and the Lake Superior Area.
Some of those First Nations and Métis artifacts will be publicly displayed for the first time from now until March 2025.
Several groups have contributed to the displays, including the Department of Anthropology at Lakehead University, the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Manitoba Museum, and the Six Seasons of the Asiniskaw lthiniwak SSH RC Project, according to a news release.
The Eyes on the Skies exhibit will focus on the history of air traffic management in one of the busiest fly-in communities in the world.
It’s developed by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, one of three museums part of Ingenium, which works with NAV CANADA.
It will feature some interactive experiences to text visitors’ skills and runs until January of next year.
