Nipigon: 11 firearms seized during drug bust

Two Nipigon residents are facing charges following the execution of two search warrants in the community.

The provincial police executed a search warrant on Thursday on a motor vehicle and Friday at a home on Wadsworth Drive.

During the searches, two people were arrested, and suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and 11 firearms were seized.

As a result, a 39-year-old Nipigon resident is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

A 31-year-old from Nipigon is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

Both of the accused remain in custody after appearing before the court.
